Once believed to be bottomless, St Michael’s Cave inspired tales of a secret passage to Africa—said to bring Gibraltar’s macaques to the Rock. Mentioned by ancient geographer Pomponius Mela, it was later fitted as a WWII hospital but never used.
Since the 1960s, the cave has served as a natural theatre for concerts and events, featuring stunning rock formations and a dramatic fallen stalagmite that reveals nature’s artistry.
